Professional Experience
Manuel A. Garcia-Linares serves as the Firm's Managing Shareholder. A member of the firm since 1993, Mr. Garcia-Linares concentrates in complex commercial litigation, officer and director liability, real estate litigation, probate and trust litigation, professional malpractice (legal and accounting) and class action litigation.
He also handles corporate and transactional matters for the firm. Mr. Garcia-Linares was a judicial intern to United States District Court Judge George Arceneaux, Jr., E. D. Louisiana and a law clerk to the Honorable Juan Ramirez, Jr., 11th Judicial Circuit (currently at the Third District Court of Appeal).
Education
Mr. Garcia-Linares graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Miami and received his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Tulane Law School. While at the University of Miami, he served as the vice president of administration of Alpha Kappa Psi and was a member of the varsity crew team. While at Tulane, he was an associate editor of The Tulane Law Review, a member of La Alianza Del Derecho, and a volunteer for the Internal Revenue Services’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
Professional Activities
Mr. Garcia-Linares is the Immediate Past President of the Cuban American Bar Association (Board of Directors, 2002, 2005 to present, Treasurer 2002, Immediate Past Vice President 2007-08, President-Elect 2009, President 2010), President of the Cuban American Bar Foundation (2011), the American Bar Association, and Dade County Bar Association.
He also holds a Certified Public Accountant license from the State of Florida. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a member and Past President of the Cuban American Certified Public Accountants Association, Inc. (President, 2000-2001).
Mr. Garcia-Linares has lectured and written articles on accounting malpractice and document retention policies.
Civic Activities
Mr. Garcia-Linares is active in his community serving on the City of Coral Gables Retirement Board (Past Chariman and Board Member, 2002-Present) and City of Coral Gables Parknership Committee. He was Vice President of the St. Theresa School Board and a member of the Belen Jesuit Preparatory School Board Leadership Development Group. He is a member of the Belen Alumni Lawyers Section Board and of the Advisory Board for Our Lady of Lourdes Academy.
