Effective January 1, 2007, Manuel A. Garcia-Linares has been named the Managing Shareholder of Richman Greer, P.A.
“Manny was selected to be Managing Shareholder because of his leadership and financial abilities and his dedication and commitment to the firm,” said Gerald F. Richman, President of the firm. Garcia-Linares, who joined the firm in 1993 and became a shareholder in 1999, practices primarily in the areas of commercial and class action litigation as well as corporate and transactional matters. He also handles inland marine (“cargo claims”) defense matters for the firm.
Garcia-Linares is also active in the community. He currently serves as a Vice President of the Cuban American Bar Association and is a Trustee of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the City of Coral Gables Retirement Board, where he previously served as Chairman from 2005-2006, and is a member of the City of Coral Gables Parknership Committee.
He is also a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a member and Past President of the Cuban American Certified Public Accountants Association, Inc. (President, 2000-2001). He was formerly the Vice President of the St. Theresa School Board and a member of the Belen Jesuit Preparatory School Board Leadership Development Group and is currently one of the Belen Alumni Association Class Delegate for his class.
His work and contributions to the field of law have been recognized by various organizations throughout his distinguished career. In 2000, he received the Union Planters Bank Young Hispanic Leadership Award for Distinguished Professional Accomplishments and Community Service and has been listed in the South Florida Legal Guide’s List of South Florida’s Top Lawyers from 2001-2006. While in law school, Garcia-Linares received the David L. Herman Award and the American Jurisprudence Award for Legal Profession, was made a member of the Tulane Chapter of the Order of the Coif and was listed in Who’s Who in American Law Schools.
A resident of Coral Gables, Garcia-Linares received his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Tulane Law School and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Miami. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
